artist-in-residence program

About Artist-In-Residence

The program aims to provide an opportunity for children and families to observe and interact with a professional artist. The program is open to artists working in a variety of media. Artists are chosen based on artistic merit and proven experience working with children and families.

Program Overview

The Artist-in-Residence Program offers emerging, mid-career, and professional artists an opportunity to showcase their talents while inviting creative exploration in children of all ages.  There are two 8-week residencies available: Fall 2023 and Spring 2023. Local and regional artists are encouraged to apply. During the residency, the artist will develop participatory workshops and hands-on demonstrations that lead to a cumulative piece/installation exhibited at the museum.

Eligibility

Artists must be enthusiastic about social engagement, collaboration and interacting with children. The application is open to all visual and multidisciplinary artists. This includes, but is not limited to, paint, sculpture, installation, textiles, illustration, digital art, and printmaking. The museum does not provide housing or transportation.

During open studio hours, museum patrons will visit with the artist and will help contribute to the artist’s work. At the conclusion of the residency, the artist will contribute one of the pieces he/she worked on during the residency to cMoe. The final piece must be completed before the end of the residency. The artist is solely responsible for the creation of their final piece.

All artists will be notified after the selection process is complete. cMoe reserves the right to interview candidates before making our decision. cMoe is an equal opportunity employer.
